Over the past several months we have been receiving some inquires and comments regarding Epic Aviation, Inc in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Our policy at jetuniversitysucks.com is to be able to independently verify information furnished to us before publishing that information.
A short time ago a student came to us requesting assistance getting a refund from Epic Aviation. This student had complete documentation including copies of his contract, copies of e-mails from Epic Aviation as well as a copy of a letter from Epic Aviation promising a refund of $9,625.56 by September 18, 2009.
This student did the proper thing and documented everything. You should always document and keep copies of all of your paperwork from your flight school. Keep copies of your contracts, advertising material, e-mails and letters.
At first, it appeared this would not be a major issue. Epic Aviation appeared to be a reputable aviation business with an award winning FBO operation that includes flight training, aircraft sales, aircraft maintenance, aircraft charter and fuel sales. Epic Aviation has an impressive website located here:
It's shouldn't be a problem to get a simple $9,625.56 refund from such a reputable business we reasoned.
But as you might imagine, things are not always as simple as they seem or as they should be when it comes to flight training. When a student pays more than $2500 in advance even a 100% guaranteed refund is not always guaranteed. And this would prove to be true at Epic Aviation.
Stay with us for this flight school story of Epic proportions.
It is our recommendation to not pay more than $2500 in advance to Epic Aviation at anytime.
DO NOT GET IN A POSITION WHEREBY EPIC AVIATION HAS MORE THAN $2500 OF YOUR MONEY IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REASON.
THAT MEANS DO NOT MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS TO EPIC AVIATION IF YOU ARE OWED MORE THAN $2500 IN FLIGHT TRAINING.
