IS JETUNIVERSITYSUCKS.COM LEGAL?

We are hearing from some folks that Jet University staff may be telling students and other staff members that JETUNIVERSITYSUCKS.COM is not legal.  This is simply not true.

There are two landmark cases that cover Sucks type websites that insure that this website and other "sucks" websites are protected by the 1st amendment to the constitution.  Obviously we don't expect Jet University owners and management to like this site.

Perhaps if Jet University management does not like what they are reading here, they should make a full and honest effort to do the right thing and make sure that students get what they have paid for.  If that were done, there would be no need for this site in the first place.  But we do wish to point out that JETUNIVERSITYSUCKS.COM is legal.

Here is a link to a legal decision about a suck site:

We ask you to check our site out and see for yourself that we are accurate with our posted information.  If you do find an error, please notify us at:  jetustudent@gmail.com and we will correct such error.  It is not our intention or desire to have incorrect information posted on our website.

This site is not affiliated with Jet University in any way.  We are a non commercial site and we do not sell anything.   Thank you for your visit here.

It's time to look at where we all are.

For those of you that attended Jet University, Inc in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and did not receive the pilot and flight training or your First Officer CRJ job,  as per your written contract with Jet University, Inc, I have put this website in place so you can help explain to your parents, your girlfriend, your wife and your attorney what  is going on at Jet University and why you aren't flying the CRJ jets that JET U promised you would be flying.

I have also laid out the FREE steps that you should take to help protect your interests.

YOU SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION BEFORE IT GETS ANY WORSE.  Jet University management has taken the position that they are not going to do anything and you will just give up.  Don't let them rob you of your dream!

1.  FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU

Iit is important that you click on the the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU of South Florida  link to file a FREE complaint if you have not received what was promised to you from Jet University, Inc. You should mention that JetU is overcharging on the fuel surcharge by 2-3 times the actual amount.  Let them know this is adding (your estimated amount)  to your cost of flight training.  I know some of you are scared and do not know where you turn.  I know some of you have been warned not to file a complaint with the BBB.  If you don't step forward and do the right thing, this pattern will continue and others will be hurt just like you are right now.

2.  FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FLORIDA ATTORNEY GENERAL

you can file a FREE complaint with the Florida attorney general right from THIS ATTORNEY GENERAL LINK on this website.  The Attorney General will not disclose your name to Jet University.

3.  SEND A LETTER TO SENATOR BILL NELSON

In the letters section of this website is a sample letter to send to Senator Bill Nelson.  He is a fellow pilot and is very interested in this matter.  He has been investigating the Silver State Helicopter Flight School failure that happened in February and left 2500 students without their prepaid flight training.

4.  SEND A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF PINNACLE AIRLINES

In the letters section of this website is a sample letter to send to the President of Pinnacle Airlines.  This is important because you came to Jet University with the full expectation that you would be working at Pinnacle.  Pinnacle is a fine airline and they do not know what is going on at Jet U.

IF YOU HAVE AN ATTORNEY

YOUR CONTRACT RIGHTS

When you came to Jet University, Inc., you signed a somewhat confusing contract that they provided.  It is designed to confuse you so that you don't know exactly what you are "buying".  The contract promised you a certain number of flight hours on page 2 of the contract.  Most of you have the following:

Flight Briefing  150 hours

Solo Flight Single Engine 90 hours

Dual Flight Single Engine 80 hours

Flight Training Device (DUAL only) 50 hours

Multi-Engine Dual 30 hours

Ground Academic 120 hours

This means that you have paid in advance for 200 flight hours and 50 simulator hours.   If you have not received 200 flight hours and 50 simulator hours and you have not yet passed all of your checkrides then Jet University, Inc owes those hours to you.   You should put that in your FREE complaint that you file with the Better Business Bureau.

At the bottom of page one of your contract  (Paragragh 5)there is a sentence that is very important to you.  It says,

"ALL FLIGHT TRAINING UP TO THE HOURS DELINEATED HEREIN, GROUND SCHOOL, GENERAL OPERATIONS MANUAL, FTD SIMULATIOR TRAINING, AND INITIAL FAA CHECK RIDES ARE INCLUDED WITHIN THE PROGRAM COST."

That is a very important paragraph.  It tells you that everything is included  up to 200 flight hours and 50 simulator hours.  If you go over 200 flight hours then you do owe more money to Jet University, Inc.  However if you are under 200 flight hours, you do not owe them anything more other than for a correctly priced fuel surcharge.  Thus far we have not seen a correctly priced fuel surcharge at JetU.

The problem we are having is that Jet University has charged OVER and ABOVE the actual additional cost of fuel per gallon.  In fact they have charged 2-3 times as much as they are supposed to.   The gas surcharges were first put in place in July 20, 2008.  Please look at the Fuel Prices page and see how much fuel was when you signed your contract with Jet University.  That is your baseline fuel price.

A DA40 which burns 9 gallons of gas per hour was surcharged at $23.50 per hour as of July 20, 2008.  That works out to an increase charged to you of $2.61 per gallon.  The problem is that gas had really only gone up by less than 80 cents a gallon from the Fall of 2007 until the summer of 2008.   (It has now come down more than $1 a gallon as of November 16, 2008, but the fuel surcharges remain)

What the management of Jet University, Inc has done is base the Fuel BASELINE price on 2006 gas prices when gas was $3.00 a gallon.  The first student didn't even start at Jet U until March 12, 2007.  That baseline has absolutely no relation to our contracts or even when the school started teaching flight students.

Gas was over $5.00 a gallon from 22 June 2007 onward.  It is not correct to base the fuel prices on 2006 gas prices which have no relation to us anymore so that basing the fuel base price on 1962 gas prices.

The very first flight school class at Jet University began on 03/12/2007.  Dave Marcum (see Home Page YouTube Video)  was in the very first class.

Of course we are in 2008 and none of us were at Jet U in 2006.  In fact most of us came here after the summer of 2007 for our "ZERO TO FIRST OFFICER CRJ PILOT IN 9 MONTHS" program.  So far, no one has completed the program in nine months, but that is another story.

Jet University can not bring us in in January of 2008 and sign a $70,000 contract with us for flight training and then suddenly decide they are going to add a fuel surcharge based on 2006 fuel prices.  The fuel base charge starts from the date of your contract--not before.

 REGULATION SECTION

Have your attorney check out our regulation section on this website.  There are certain things that JETU is required to do before accepting your money.  The list of those requirements is in the regulation section.

JET UNIVERSITY MAY BE DOUBLE CHARGING

We have found some instances of Jet University being paid twice for the same service or fuel.  There are two ways that they may be doing this.  Please check your invoices and see if you have been Double Charged.  Here are the two ways this can happen:

1.  On Time Building Flights, each student is being charged the total number of hours for the airplane. As you know, all time building flights involve two students.   If you go out with your flying buddy and use the plane 5 hours, then both students are being charged for 5 hours and that would mean that JetU would be collecting 10 hours of plane rental for 5 actual hours of plane time.

2.  A student is being charged for the inflated fuel surcharge in their deposit account and also paying for that same inflated fuel surcharge via credit card or personal check at the end of the flight.   This means that the student is paying the inflated fuel surcharge TWICE.

DO NOT MODIFY YOUR CONTACT, OR SIGN A NEW CONTRACT,  UNTIL YOUR ATTORNEY LOOKS IT OVER!

I am being told by some students that Heath is attempting to get you to sign a new contract.  Be very careful here and do not sign a new contract, or modify your old one, until your attorney looks it over.  You are entitled to have your attorney look at the contract that Heath's attorney constructed for Jet University.  Don't let them talk you out of that!   You could be signing away your valuable rights.   Also make sure your attorney has the information on this website.
