05/09/09. Today during the interview with CBS News Channel 4--A brand new student indicated he paid $11,000 in cash last week to Barbara Botti for flight training. Barbara Botti accepted the payment without telling him that Jet University was getting ready to shut down. Of course the $11,000 was not protected by Tuition Trust and the student is out the money. See how this Tuition Trust program didn't work?
04/17/09. Today Jet University announced on its website something called "Tuition Trust"
This is just another Jet University advertising gimmick designed to get you to part with your money and pay in advance. It's designed to get you to "TRUST" them. Don't fall for it! Don't do it!
NEVER PAY THESE GUYS ANY MONEY IN ADVANCE FOR ANYTHING. NO MATTER HOW GREAT THEY MAKE IT SOUND. NO MATTER WHAT DISCOUNT THEY OFFER. NOTHING THEY CAN DO OR SAY CAN MAKE YOUR TUITION MONEY SAFE.
Until those 222 students are taken care of by either a refund or their guaranteed job, this business does not deserve to collect any more money, from anyone, in advance. Keep your money under your control. Do not deposit it with Jet University.
Jet University has proven that anything it guarantees or promises can not be counted on. SEE WEASEL CLAUSE-NO MATTER WHAT PAGE. There are over 222 students with JOB GUARANTEES--NO MATTER WHAT" that don't have those GUARANTEED JOBS.
What will happen is that you will deposit your money and they will find some way (though the contract that you sign) to keep your hard earned money even if you don't finish the program or are not allowed to finish the program. They will have some sort of cancellation fee or early termination fee or drop out fee or some other fee that they will dream up. DON'T DO IT!
If you want to set up an escrow arrangement to pay for your tuition then you can deposit the money with YOUR OWN ATTORNEY (Not Jet University's Attorney).
Then YOUR ATTORNEY can remit the money for your education when you tell him to remit the money. (Once a week or once a month)
If the school doesn't deliver as promised and you want to leave then you can leave and take your money with you to another school since it is deposited in your attorney's trust account. If the school starts to add excessive fuel surcharges then you can leave and go somewhere else that does not add such charges. You can only do this if the money is under your control. Do not pay any flight school money in advance. It is just too tempting for a flight school to spend your money when they have your money in their account.
